How to start selling print-on-demand products with Markkët today

Want to sell custom shirts, posters, stickers, or other products without buying inventory upfront?

Print-on-demand (POD) makes it possible

Instead of printing hundreds of products and storing inventory, you can design, connect with a fulfillment provider, and place orders using the information given by your customers

Markkët makes it easy to create your storefront, share your products, and start building your brand

Today, you can use Markkët alongside your favorite print-on-demand provider and manually fulfill orders. We are actively exploring deeper integrations to make this process even more seamless in the future

What is print-on-demand?

Traditional retail:

Design → Buy inventory → Store products → Find customers → Ship orders

Print-on-demand:

Design → Create product → Customer orders → Product is printed → Product ships

You don't need: inventory, storage space, expensive equipment, large upfront investments, shipping

You focuson creating and promoting

Step 1: Choose your print-on-demand provider

There are several great providers depending on your needs

LumaPrint

Great for creators who want professional-quality prints printed on canvas

Printful

One of the most popular global print-on-demand platforms.

Good for: apparel, swag, variety of blanks, international fulfillment

Free design and marketing tools they recently made some marketing tools available for everyone (previously only available with a Printful Plus or Pro subscription). These tools are tailor-made to help you grow your business, so go nuts with developing your designs and stores: Background Removal Tool, Custom Mockup Maker, Promo Maker

Printify

Good for:

  • international customers
  • local production networks
  • reducing shipping distances

DTF Printing (DIY Print-on-Demand)

Print-on-demand does not always mean using a large fulfillment company, another popular option for creators and small businesses is DTF (Direct-to-Film) printing

With DTF, your design is printed onto a special transfer film. You can then apply that design onto a shirt, hoodie, tote bag, or other product using a heat press

Instead of buying expensive printing equipment or keeping hundreds of shirts in inventory, you can keep your designs ready and produce products only when customers order

Always compare pricing, shipping times, product quality, and available locations before choosing a provider

Step 2: Create your products

Create your products inside your print-on-demand platform.

Example:

You create: "Capital Region Burners Hoodie"

Your provider gives you: product type, sizes, colors, production cost and shipping cost

Product:
Capital Region Burners Hoodie

Selling price:$55

Production cost:$22

Estimated margin:$33

Remember to consider taxes and processing fees

Step 3: Add your products to your Markkët store

Create your product page with photos, description, pricing options for variants; and consider writing some articles and stories to help you promote

Markkët processes your sales using Stripe and you receive the money from your sales directly in the account you set up, with processing times depending on a few variables, like your country and the type of transaction

Share your storefront with your audience, and encourage your friends to place some orders for you to test the flow

Step 4: Fulfillment

Until automatic integrations are available, the workflow is simple:

  1. Customer buys through your Markkët store
  2. You receive the order
  3. You create the order in your print-on-demand provider, using the data provided by your customers
  4. The provider prints and ships the product
  5. You update your customer in the dashboard, paste the shipping link so they can track the order

No inventory required

You can mention in the product description that there's a processing time, and place your orders with the print-on-demand providers in sessions a few times a week
