How Does the Stripe Integration Work?

When you create a store on Markkët, you can connect your own Stripe account or create a new one

The connection is completed using Stripe's secure OAuth onboarding flow

During setup Stripe may request information such as:

  • Legal name
  • Business information
  • Tax information
  • Government identification
  • Bank account details
  • Date of birth (for individual businesses)
  • Business ownership information

This information is collected directly by Stripe, not by Markkët; Markkët never stores your banking credentials or identity documents.

Identity Verification (KYC)

Financial regulations require payment processors to verify the identity of businesses receiving money, this process is commonly known as Know Your Customer (KYC).

Stripe may request documentation to verify:

  • Identity
  • Business registration
  • Beneficial ownership
  • Tax information
  • Address
  • Bank account ownership

Additional verification may be requested if:

  • Your sales volume increases
  • Your business changes ownership
  • Regulations change
  • Stripe detects unusual activity

These requirements help prevent fraud, money laundering, and financial abuse
