Welcome to repair the world capital region
#Announcement
Opening Our Doors in All Directions
Stepping into the role of Ambassador for the Capital Region Chapter of Repair the World is both an honor and a responsibility I carry with deep gratitude. This community has always been a place of generosity, curiosity, and possibility — and now, together, we have the chance to amplify that spirit through service, learning, and connection.
As we begin building this shared space, I’ve been thinking a lot about Abraham, the first exemplar of radical hospitality in our tradition. The Midrash teaches that Abraham kept his tent open on all four sides, welcoming travelers no matter where they came from. His home wasn’t just a shelter, it was a statement of values:
Everyone is welcome.
Kindness is active, not passive.
We meet people where they are.
Service is a doorway to connection.
This posture of openness is the blueprint for our organization and chapters. Like Abraham, we aim to face outward in every direction — toward our neighbors, our schools, our elders, our environment, and anyone in need of support or companionship.
Our Values
Chesed (Loving-Kindness)
We show up with warmth, empathy, and generosity. Chesed isn’t just about helping others — it’s about building relationships rooted in dignity and mutual respect.
Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World)
Every act of service, no matter how small, is a stitch in the larger fabric of healing. We believe in practical, hands-on ways to strengthen the Capital Region, from food justice initiatives to community care projects.
Learning and Reflection
We ground our work in Jewish wisdom, civic responsibility, and real conversations about how to meet the needs of our neighbors.
Community
Our chapter thrives when more voices, more backgrounds, and more stories come together. Your presence matters, whether you show up once, monthly, or become a core volunteer.
What’s Coming Up
Over the next few months, we’ll begin organizing:
Hands-on service events with local organizations
Opportunities for learning and conversation centered on Jewish values and social justice
Partner collaborations with local nonprofits, synagogues, student groups, and civic leaders
Seasonal gatherings that blend service, storytelling, and community building
This space, both our website and our chapter, will grow with your energy and participation.
