Leadership video viewing recommendation

As well as recommending a few good books on leadership, we know some managers prefer to learn with videos, here's a few of our recommendations Jessica Brentnall - Stabilising eccentric systems - NewCrafts 2024 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IeBuPZYfPVQ No software system is perfect. At least that fact keeps things interesting and keeps us busy, but what do you do when your system is further away from perfection than you’re comfortable with? It may be you are dealing with a legacy monolith, a system that has strange logic, no documentation and/or hardly any conventions you can recognise. Everything seems to be on fire and you need to stabilise the situation. We’ll explore some techniques that are useful when working on systems that need a little love. At a high-level, we will go through approaching testing, monitoring, re-architecting and documenting these systems. We will also go through prioritisation when everything is urgent and the non-technical metrics that can help with buy-in for stabilising your system and team. This talk is an intermediate level talk. The aim is for you to not only learn how to deal with these situations but want to tackle the challenges they present and be excited about the change you can lead. 2021 IWD - Panel Session - Collaborative Leadership: Leading With Our Whole Selves https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x67kB8cPO1s Ingrid Gonzalez, Head of Sales at Google Cloud New York, Chairwoman and President of Positive Planet US Leah Bonvissuto, Communication Coach & Founder, PresentVoices Porsha Monroe, Learning and Development, Netflix Dr. Makeba Williams, Director of the Division of Academic Specialists in Obstetrics and Gynecology (ASOG) and a Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health. Moderator - Carolina Castro - WTM Ambassador in NYC Becoming a Tech Leader Requires Actually Leading | Crystal Morrison | TEDxStripDistrict https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zo5CM9ZD1yM Being a great leader is hard; being a great scientist is hard. Being both? Crystal says it's possible, and more important now than ever before. Dr. Crystal Morrison is a highly regarded scientist and leader who is passionate about developing people and organizations to their highest potential. She believes strongly that innovation is an act of leadership not just creativity. With extensive experience across industry, academia and national labs, Dr. Morrison knows what it takes to build and lead successful teams that create lasting value and bring products from concept to reality. Dr. Morrison holds a Ph.D. in Macromolecular Science and Engineering and a B.S. in Chemistry. Following graduate school at the University of Michigan, Dr. Morrison was a Harold Agnew National Security Postdoctoral Fellow at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) and later became a staff member, team leader and program leader before moving to Pittsburgh, PA.

FukProfit - A corporation with bigger ambitions

As a corporation we have multiple obligations Many of this obligations require us to have monetary ambitions & financial planning Thinking about our future viability, and the features we want to build for our communities we establish a for-profit corporation We're likely to open other corporations that handle other additional business verticals to facilitate operations, and local permits The initial obligation from the corporation is to the government and the regulatory entities, to ensure our future operations we must avoid attracting unnecessary scrutiny Our cybersecurity professionals and engineers maintain our data safety & privacy compliance Additionally we must ensure that our operations are covered, server costs, domains, emails, some variable and fixed costs that we're trying to anticipate in our financials to remain operational with investors or revenue To our current & future investors, we're considering standard industry terms that support our long term vision Our Vendors & Stripe connect Our commitment to our users & benefiting the community is very important to us We're implementing Stripe APIs and allowing each user to manage their own API dashboard to distribute payouts as early as possible Vendors and professionals using our platform for their physical and digital offerings can plan their financials and timelines with higher confidence We'll work to decrease rates for transaction fees & subscriptions, growing the scale of operations can help us reinvest in our product [ Stripe connect documentation ] White-labeled & self-hosted marketplace users are encourage to contribute new integration capabilities Open-source Self-hosted & enterprise We're trying to publish our code as open-source on github, to encourage transparency As we add more features, we hope to make it easier to self-host Customers that want additional features, or expedited timelines can hire from our pool of engineers & product managers Community & Events We're creating methods to communicate online, to offer customer support and create channels for our community to interact We're hosting & sponsoring events to promote collaboration between our members Co-working & Retreats We're hosting co-working sessions with our partners, and want to enable more collaboration We plan to invest in physical facilities to support our communities Business startup partners We hope to grow our business thru investors and revenue to hire and promote business with startups by our friends [ Forecastr ] is an out-of-the-box finance function for your business. Book recommendations to inspire empathic leaders

Wanted to share a list with some of the books that have inspired us as leaders and tell you about bookshop.org While we certainly prefer to encourage shopping at your local store, we know that they don't always have the availability of the internet Bookshop.org supports independent stores Every purchase on the site financially supports independent bookstores, and they offer them tools to compete online and maintain their local presence We don't use referral links, some of the authors are friends And Empathic Leadership builds lasting teams Being intentional about your leadership approach, helps you accomplish your personal and corporate ambitions by building genuine human connections with your collaborators The Archaeology of Burning Man: The Rise and Fall of Black Rock City Each August staff and volunteers begin to construct Black Rock City, a temporary city located in the hostile and haunting Black Rock Desert of northwestern Nevada. Every September nearly seventy thousand people occupy the city for Burning Man, an event that creates the sixth-largest population center in Nevada. By mid-September the infrastructure that supported the community is fully dismantled, and by October the land on which the city lay is scrubbed of evidence of its existence. The Archaeology of Burning Man examines this process of building, occupation, and destruction. [ LINK ] Leading Without Authority: How the New Power of Co-Elevation Can Break Down Silos, Transform Teams, and Reinvent Collaboration In times of stress, we have a choice: we can retreat further into our isolated silos, or we can commit to "going higher together." When external pressures are mounting, and employees are working from far-flung locations across the globe, says bestselling author Keith Ferrazzi, we can no longer afford to waste time navigating the complex chains of command or bureaucratic bottlenecks present in most companies. But when we choose the bold new methodology of co-elevation as our operating model, we unlock the potential to boost productivity, deepen commitment and engagement, and create a level of trust, mutual accountability, and purpose that exceeds what could have been accomplished under the status quo. [ LINK ] Latinx in Social Work: Stories that heal, inspire, and connect communities Latinx in Social Work is a book is about space. The space we take up, the spaces we create and nurture, and the spaces that have yet to exist, but are so crucial to the growth and development of Latinx social workers, mental health practitioners, executives, and professionals in all industries in this country, and beyond. This book is a revolutionary step in creating a movement that is committed to owning our own narratives, naming common but unspoken struggles and challenges, and driving our own healing from the past while highlighting our successes and creating a space for hope for the future [ LINK ] Start with Why: How Great Leaders Inspire Everyone to Take Action START WITH WHY asks (and answers) the questions: why are some people and organizations more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others? Why do some command greater loyalty from customers and employees alike? Even among the successful, why are so few able to repeat their success over and over? [ LINK ] Empathic Entrepreneurial Engineering: The Missing Ingredient His book is about acquiring empathy, persuasion, and knowledge skills to become an entrepreneurial engineer. These skills are not obtained by just reading his book. You have to apply them any time the occasion is there. David therefore advises to read the book as an entertainment non-fiction book. He advises to read it fast and only short sections at a time. Chapter one for instance should be red in 2 minutes. In the end that is what I did. I took his book to the beach and red short sections to my wife, because it was so funny. [ LINK ]
